Word of the Week: Standing in the Battle

When Simply Not Giving Up Is Spiritual Victory

Bro. David Woodard | The Weekly Ledger News | Faith & Inspiration Column | March 9, 2026

You’re still standing… and that’s not small. That’s warfare.

People don’t see the fight it took just to get out of bed. To show up. To smile. To build anyway. To still believe after what tried to break you.

But Jesus saw it all.

The moment you worshiped with tears running down your face. The moment you prayed when you had no words. The moment you chose faith over fear… again… and again… and again…

That was faith.

That was victory.

That was holy.

Ephesians 6:13 says,

Having done all… stand.

And you did.

You stood when you didn’t feel strong.

You stood when the prayers felt unanswered.

You stood when your heart was tired and your hands were trembling.

So no, you’re not behind.

You’re not broken.

You’re not disqualified.

You’re becoming.

And the enemy is terrified of your resilience. Terrified that you keep rising. Terrified that you’re still saying “yes” to God, even with a limp.

You are a threat. Not because life is easy, but because you refuse to quit when it’s hard.

So straighten your crown.

Dry your tears.

And stand like the warrior you are.

Because what’s ahead is greater than what tried to take you out.

Final Encouragement

Many believers underestimate the spiritual significance of endurance. The world celebrates loud victories, but heaven often celebrates the quiet strength of simply standing firm.

Standing when life feels overwhelming is not weakness — it is spiritual warfare.

Throughout Scripture, we see this pattern again and again. Daniel stood in the lions’ den. Paul and Silas stood in faith while chained in a prison cell. Job stood through loss and suffering without abandoning his faith.

Daniel in the lions’ den. Paul and Silas in the prison cell. Job through loss and suffering.

Each of them faced moments where quitting would have been easier. Yet they chose to stand.

And sometimes that is the greatest act of faith there is.

If today feels like a battle just to keep going, remember this: God is not asking you to have all the answers. He is asking you to remain faithful.

Every step forward, every prayer whispered through tears, every decision to trust God one more day — it all matters.

Your resilience is not unnoticed.

Your faith is not wasted.

And your story is not finished.

Scripture for Reflection

Ephesians 6:13

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

2 Corinthians 4:8–9

We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.

Take time this week to read these verses slowly and allow them to remind you that God strengthens those who keep standing in faith.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the strength You give us when life feels overwhelming. Thank You for seeing every quiet battle that others may never notice.

Lord, for the person who feels weary today, renew their spirit. For the one who feels like giving up, remind them that You are standing beside them.

Give us the courage to keep trusting You even when the road is hard. Help us to stand in faith, knowing that You are working in ways we cannot yet see.

Strengthen our hearts, steady our steps, and remind us that what lies ahead in Your plan is greater than anything that tried to defeat us.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
