Alma Elizabeth Steele, 81 of Cave Spring, Ga. passed away Friday, January 20 at Advent Health.
Funeral services were Friday, January 27 at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Paul Vincent, Clint Summerville and Jerry Hanson officiating, burial will follow in Providence Cemetery (Highway 411). The family will received friends prior to service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers include JR Higginbotham, Justin Irvin, Trey Steele, Chad Steele, Chase Irvin and Zach Steele.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Travis Steele and Preston McGatha.
Survivors include son, William Otis Jr. (Felisa) Steele; daughters, Judy Ann Vines, Brenda Gayle Hines, Donna Lynne (Jerry) Hanson and Gina Renee Dobbs; sister, Faye (Robert Dale) Abernathy; sister-in-law, Ann Hulsey; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Otis Steele Sr.; daughter, Peggy Sue Sisson; brothers, Paul Matthews, Garvin Matthews and Hoover Matthews; sisters, Mary Abernathy and Francis Gossett.
Mrs. Steele was a native of Cherokee County Alabama and the daughter of the late James and Alma Matthews and a member of Grace Fellowship Baptist Church in Cave Spring, Ga.

James D. “Jim” Pickelsimer III, 82 of Cedar Bluff, passed away Saturday, January 28 at Advent Health Hospital.
Funeral services were Thursday, February 2 at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mark Cosby officiating, burial will follow in Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers include Johnny Walker, Nick Mobley, Chris Waddell, Shane Barnette, Brad Grimes, Mike Rainey, Dan Stroup and Dennie Pickelsimer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brian Pickelsimer, Billy McKinney and Tommy Lee.
Survivors include wife, Linda Pickelsimer; son, John (Tammie) Pickelsimer; daughter, Lori (Shane) Barnette; sister, Linda S. Pickelsimer; grandchildren, Alyssa Reece and Tamara Barnette; nieces and nephews; special friends, Glenda Coheley and Leslye Naugher.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gary Pickelsimer and Jeffrey Pickelsimer.
Mr. Pickelsimer was the son of the late James Jr. and Margaret Pickelsimer and a member of the Cedar Bluff First Baptist Church.

June Claire Lambert Rhinhart
June Claire Lambert Rhinehart, 75 of the McCord's Crossroads Community passed away peacefully Friday, December 30, 2022, at her at residence surrounded by her beloved family.
She was a member of Old Nazareth Baptist Church. She was a devote mother and grandmother who always welcomed everyone into her home with a warm meal and a loving hug.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 2, 2023, at Old Nazareth Baptist Church and Cemetery with Bro. Josh Bryant and Bro. Barry Rogers Jr. officiating.
Pallbearers include Tracey Smith, Sheldon Robinson, Andrew Pittman, Cody Paschal, Rodney Broome, Lane Frost, Brett Rhinehart, Kevin Rhinehart, Logan Rhinehart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl “Bob” Rhinehart; grandson, Tyler Wesley Smith; parents, Theodore and Willie Mae “Cap” Lambert.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Earl Rhinehart Jr “Lil Bob”, Kary Rhinehart, Gary (Chris) Rhinehart; daughters, Tammy (Tracey) Smith, Sherry (Sheldon) Robinson, Terry (Rayburn) Mackey, and Victoria (Oliver) Young; grandchildren, Jessica Robinson, Kristen (Andrew) Pittman, Kayla Henry, Luke Rhinehart, Chad Henry, Brett Rhinehart, Logan Rhinehart, Mark (Jennifer) Mackey, Traci (Bob) Whestine, and several step-grandchildren, great-grandson Lance Whestine, and a great granddaughter on the way Emory Clair Pittman, special pet Curtis, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Rhinehart was a native of Cherokee County.

Survivors include his daughters, Alisha Spurlock (Kevin), Sheena Reynolds; son, Shane Reynolds (Ashly); brothers, Leroy Reynolds (Barbara), Joey Reynolds (Lenore); sisters, Myra Reynolds (Don), Tina West; grandchildren, Olivia Reynolds, Angel Smith, Matthew Spurlock and five great grandchildren; mother of his children, Loretta Mitchell.

Jack Wesley Paulk, 81 of Centre, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023, at his residence.
Funeral Services were held Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Perry Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial followed at Cherokee Memory Gardens.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Janice Paulk; daughters, Rachel (Wayne) Carlisle, Rebecca (James) Anderson; sisters, Polly (Don) Hocott, Kathleen Hamby; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also remaining.
Pallbearers were Shane Tuley, Matt DeLong, Brady DeLong, Whitt Whitten, Jamie Jackson, Colton Laughlin, Jared Ciervo.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Paulk.
Mr. Paulk was the son of the late Lucas and Esther Paulk. He was a faithful member of East Centre Baptist Church of Centre.

Mrs. Ann T. Higginbotham, 87, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John C. Higginbotham officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A private graveside will be held for the family.
Pallbearers will include Dr. Brian Ingram, Colin Bondy, Jason Hardin, John Austin Higginbotham, Colin Higginbotham and Michael Johns.

Ann was born in Sylacauga, Alabama to the late Paul Clifford and Mildred Haynes Tankersley. She was a loving and faithful wife to the late Rev. Joe C. Higginbotham.

Survivors include husband, Gary Whitfield; daughter, April (Wade) Johnson; brother, Larry Hester; grandchildren, Logan (Stephanie) Johnson, Ashton Johnson and Landon Johnson.
Mrs. Whitfield was a native of Sand Rock and the daughter of the late Refus and Ida Faye Hester and was of the Baptist Faith.

Billie Jean Burkhalter, 91 of Cedar Bluff, passed away Friday, January 27 at her residence.
Funeral services were Sunday January 29 at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. George Cobb officiating, burial will follow in Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will received friends prior to service Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers include Tyler Cobb, Hunter Cobb, Randy Kelley, Hoppie Morris, Greg Willett and Danny Woodall. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Morrison, Leonard Gifford, Chris Kelley, Logan Woodall, Charles Davis, friends and neighbors on Chattooga and Armstrong Drive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Burkhalter; daughter, Donna Cobb and sister, Frances Brashier.
Mrs. Burkhalter was a native of Cherokee County and the daughter of the late Willie Watt and Melvia Cartlidge and a member of Cedar Bluff First Baptist Church.

Charles Wayne Singleton, 84 of Centre, passed away Wednesday, February 1 at his home.
Funeral services were Saturday, February 4 at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Nation and Rev. Melvyn Salter officiating, burial will follow in Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will received friends prior to service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Linda Gail Reed, 64 of Gadsden, passed away Friday, December 30, 2022 at St. Vincent’s Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 6, 2023, at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Hayes officiating.
Burial followed at Sand Valley Cemetery.

Malcolm Edge, 95 of Gadsden, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023, at his residence.
Survivors include his cousins, Danny (Pat) St. Clair, Sandra (Bud) Mackey, M.G. St. Clair, Jim (Linda) St. Clair, Delores Treadaway and Myra Clark. Many friends and former students also remain.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Edge and sister, Mary Lynn Chesnut.
Malcolm was the son of the late Wallace Edge and Nallie Daniel Edge.

Martha Wade, 83 of the Farrell Community, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Cherokee Health and Rehab.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Steele and Rev. Horace Humphries officiating, burial followed in Unity Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Robert McDaniel, Andrew Alexander, Jamie Qualls, Ian McDaniel, Max Alexander and Leeair Luster.
Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Smith, Jonathan Anthony, Blake McDaniel and Jakob Frier.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Denson Wade.
Mrs. Wade was a native of Rome, Ga. and the daughter of the late William Thomas and Willie Mae Sargent and was a member of Unity Baptist Church.

Graveside Services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2023, at Neal Hill Cemetery with Rev. Greg Locklear officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Friday at Perry Funeral Home.

Survivors include son, Weston Sanford; parents, Lisa and Wayne Wright and Peggy and Phil Bryant; sisters, Paige Tedder (Hunter), Megan Bryant; grandparents, Mary Brannon, Glen Fowler; father of her son, David Sanford; father of her son’s parents, James and Amy Samford; aunts to her son, Jada Sanford, Emma Samford; nephews, Landon Bryant, Jet Tedder; cousins, Derrick and Heather Wright, Caroline Wright; special friend, Anna Johnson Walker.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Joe Brannon and Hazel Fowler.
Clair worked as a medical assistant and was of the Baptist faith. She was a bright light to those around her. Most importantly, she was an outstanding mother who ensured that her son was the center of her world.
