CENTRAL & NORTH ALABAMA — After a stretch of mild fall weather, big changes are on the way across Alabama as a strong cold front sweeps through the state this weekend.

Rain chances will taper off through this afternoon, followed by a sharp drop in temperatures beginning Sunday night. Forecasters say early next week could bring the coldest air of the season so far — and even a few snow flurries in parts of North Alabama.

Current Conditions (as of 7:23 p.m. CST):
Temperature: 64°F (18°C)
Sky: A few clouds
Humidity: 93%
Wind: W at 7 mph

Detailed Forecast:
Tonight: Rain chances will gradually decrease, and skies will turn mostly cloudy.
Sunday: The main line of rain should move out by around 8:00 a.m., leaving behind wet roads and cooler air. A brisk north wind will usher in falling temperatures — highs will only reach the mid-to-upper 40s near the Tennessee line and low 70s in far South Alabama.
Sunday Night: Cold air will continue to push southward, with wind chills dropping to near 15°F overnight.
Monday: Expect a cold and blustery day statewide, with daytime highs struggling to reach the 30s and 40s. Light snow flurries may develop across northeast Alabama, though no accumulation is expected.
Tuesday: The coldest morning of the season so far — lows in the 20s are expected across most of the state, leading to a widespread freeze.
Late Week: A warming trend returns by midweek, with highs climbing back near 70°F by Thursday and Friday.
Residents are urged to prepare for freezing temperatures early in the week by protecting pets, plants, and exposed pipes.
