Transfer Truck Slams Into Fort Payne Home After Driver Suffers Medical Emergency

FORT PAYNE, Ala. — A transfer truck pulling an empty trailer crashed into a residence Wednesday afternoon in Fort Payne after the driver reportedly suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel, city officials confirmed.
According to a dispatch call, the crash was reported at approximately 2:25 p.m. near the 1400 block of Gault Avenue South. City officials later confirmed the truck left the roadway and struck a home in the area of 12th Street and Gault Avenue.
Fort Payne Mayor Brian Baine stated the home was unoccupied at the time of the crash, and no injuries were reported inside the residence.
Emergency responders arrived on scene and transported the driver to a local hospital after officials said the driver appeared to have experienced a medical issue while driving. The driver’s condition has not been released.
No additional details regarding the extent of property damage or the cause of the medical emergency were immediately available.
