GADSDEN - Emergency responders lined a portion of Park Street Thursday afternoon as police began their investigation into the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old in the East Gadsden neighborhood.
Capt. Bobby Jackson said police received a call at 2:41 p.m. Thursday reporting a possible shooting in the 100 block of Park Street. Officers flooded the area, he said and found the teen, dead from a gunshot wound to the head. The Etowah County Coroner's Office declined to release the victim's name because he was a minor.
Within six minutes of receiving the call, Jackson said, Gadsden officers had taken a suspect into custody. That suspect is being held pending official charges as the investigation continues. According to a witness, an argument led to the shooting.
This shooting death is the second this week in Gadsden.
