CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ala. — A quick response by local deputies led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of a Centre woman following a suspicious vehicle call in the Sand Valley community.
According to authorities, deputies were dispatched to the area of County Road 63 and County Road 540 after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle. When deputies arrived on scene, they found the vehicle unoccupied. Shortly afterward, the vehicle’s owner arrived and informed deputies that the vehicle should have been parked at his residence.
After further investigation, deputies determined the vehicle had been stolen. Investigators continued to follow leads in the area, which ultimately resulted in the identification of a suspect.
Deputies later located the suspect nearby and took her into custody without incident. Ginger Mills Duckworth, 56, of Centre, was arrested and charged with Theft of Property in the First Degree. She was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center.
Authorities confirmed the stolen vehicle was recovered and returned to its rightful owner.
The investigation remains ongoing. Additional details will be released as they become available.
