ROCK RUN, Ala. — One of Cherokee County’s most cherished holiday traditions returns this Saturday as the Rock Run Christmas Parade celebrates its 21st year, bringing Christmas cheer, community pride, and small-town spirit to the rural Rock Run community.

The parade will take place on Saturday, December 20, in Rock Run, Alabama. Lineup begins at 10 a.m. along County Road 12, which has been extended slightly farther back this year to accommodate first responders. The parade will officially roll out at 2 p.m., beginning near Rock Run Baptist Church.
Widely known for its massive turnout, the Rock Run Christmas Parade is often considered the longest Christmas parade in Alabama, regularly featuring more than 200 entries. Spectators can expect a wide variety of festive participants, including decorated ATVs, tractors, side-by-sides, Jeeps, trucks, vintage vehicles, and traditional floats, with candy thrown throughout the route.
In addition to the parade, the day will be filled with food, fellowship, and music. Lunch will be available beginning at 10 a.m. at the Rock Run Baptist Church Fellowship Hall and the Community Center on County Road 12. Gospel and Christmas music will be featured on the church’s front lawn starting around 10 a.m., adding to the festive atmosphere leading up to the parade.
Community members are invited to help support the event by donating soups, chili, and desserts, which should be dropped off at the church by 10 a.m. Additional cakes, pies, and cookies are also needed for the Cake Walk, with times to be announced.
The Rock Run Christmas Parade remains free to participate, emphasizing its strong community focus and tradition of bringing neighbors together. Organizers remind attendees to be mindful of residents and avoid blocking driveways along the parade route.
Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and a bag, bucket, or container to collect the candy and items handed out during the parade. Families attending with pets are welcome, and dog-friendly treats are often available for four-legged attendees, making it a fun experience for the whole family.
The Weekly Ledger News will be on site Saturday covering the parade and surrounding festivities, capturing video and highlights from throughout the day.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to come out this Saturday, arrive early, dress warmly, and enjoy a full day of Christmas cheer at one of Alabama’s most unique holiday parades.
