Portion of I-59 Southbound Lanes in DeKalb Co. Closed Due to Developing Sinkhole

DEKALB CO., Ala. - The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) has closed down the southbound lane on I-59 near mile-marker 205 due to a developing sinkhole.

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has traffic detoured from I-59 Southbound at Exit 205 to AL 68 to U.S. 11. Lanes will be closed for an undetermined amount of time.
ALDOT has construction crews on scene working to repair the area; however, according to ALDOT, repairs could take 4-6 hours.
Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to monitor the situation and provide updates accordingly.
