Monday Morning Fire Breaks Out at West Gadsden Auto Business, Traffic Backs Up Along U.S. 431

GADSDEN, Ala. — A commercial structure fire prompted a large emergency response and caused traffic disruptions late Monday morning at an auto business in West Gadsden.




Gadsden Fire Department crews were dispatched at approximately 11:42 a.m. to Economy Auto, located at 852 West Meighan Boulevard near North 9th Street, just a short distance from the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office.


As firefighters worked the scene, thick smoke could be seen from a considerable distance, and traffic along portions of U.S. Highway 431 was backed up as emergency vehicles responded to the area.


Multiple units from the Gadsden Fire Department were deployed, including Engine 1, Rescue 1, Quint 4, Rescue 2, Engine 8, Engine 6, and Engine 7, along with the fire chief. Crews were able to bring the fire under control in a short amount of time, preventing further spread and securing the scene.


Firefighters worked efficiently to contain the blaze and ensure public safety. No immediate information was released regarding injuries or the extent of damage to the structure.


Officials confirmed that the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and additional details will be released as they become available.
