DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. — In response to dangerously cold temperatures forecast across DeKalb County, Marked For Life Ministries, in partnership with the DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency and local officials, will operate the DeKalb County Warming Station on Thursday, January 15, providing a safe and warm shelter for individuals in need.

The warming station will open on Thursday and will remain operational as weather conditions require. For safety and coordination purposes, individuals seeking assistance must call ahead for entry instructions and location details.

Logan LeGrande, Executive Director of Marked For Life Ministries, emphasized the importance of the community response during extreme weather conditions.

“When temperatures drop to dangerous levels, our priority is ensuring people are safe,” LeGrande said. “No one should have to face freezing conditions alone. We want our community to know that help is available.”

Individuals in need of shelter, including those requiring transportation to the warming station, are encouraged to contact the 24/7 Hope Line at 888-789-HOPE (4673). The Hope Line will provide the most up-to-date information regarding location, entry procedures, transportation availability, and operating status.

Marked For Life Ministries is also seeking volunteers to assist with food service and hosting during the warming station’s operation. Community members interested in volunteering may call the Hope Line for additional details.

“This is truly a community effort,” LeGrande added. “We are grateful for our partners and volunteers who step up to ensure people are cared for during extreme weather.”

For assistance, location information, transportation needs, or volunteer opportunities, contact the 24/7 Hope Line at 888-789-HOPE (4673).
