FORT PAYNE, Ala. — The Fort Payne Police Department is actively investigating what officials have described as an “isolated incident” in the area near Fort Payne Middle School.
According to the department, officers responded to a call received shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Authorities emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the community and confirmed that the incident did not pose a danger to students or school staff at any time.
Police stated that the area is currently being treated as an active crime scene while the investigation continues.
In a statement released by the Fort Payne Police Department, officials said:
“Our department is currently conducting an active investigation near Fort Payne Middle School. This ‘isolated incident’ is related to a call that patrol officers received at approximately 10:28 a.m. There is no ongoing threat to the community, and it never presented a danger to students or staff. The scene remains active, and additional details will be released as they become available.”
