SAND ROCK, Ala. — Residents along County Road 36 (Valley Street) between County Road 70 and County Road 3 are experiencing an extended power outage after multiple incidents earlier today caused severe damage to power lines in the area.
According to reports from Cherokee County EMA, a cotton module struck and pulled down several lines, and shortly afterward a log truck became entangled in the same downed lines. The resulting damage also sparked a field fire, leading to significant disruption for nearby residents.
Cherokee Electric Cooperative crews are currently on the scene working to restore power as safely and quickly as possible. Officials are urging residents to remain patient as extensive repairs are underway.
Motorists traveling through the affected area are advised to use extreme caution, reduce speed, and watch for utility workers and emergency personnel.
The Weekly Ledger News will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.
