Escaped State Inmate Convicted of Murder has Ties to Cherokee County

Is it possible an escaped state inmate serving a 99 year sentence for murder is here in Cherokee County?

Are still looking for David Kyle – who walked away from a work detail on Saturday about 5:15pm – he was an inmate at Red Eagle Work Center in Montgomery after being convicted of a murder in Etowah County back in April of 2000. Kyle, age 49, has local ties – having grown up in the Slackland area. Monday morning Cherokee County Chief Deputy Josh Summerford informed a local radio station station in Cherokee County that Cherokee and Etowah County law enforcement officials are on heightened alert.

Kyle is a black male, five-feet-eleven inches tall (5’11”), weighing around 190 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information on Kyle’s current whereabouts should either dial 9-1-1 OR call the Sheriff’s Office at (256) 927-3365.

It is recommended you DO NOT approach him – but instead, contact law enforcement immediately.
