Deputies Respond to Domestic Dispute Turned Shooting in Chattooga County, Ga.

CHATTOOGA COUNTY, Ga. — A domestic dispute ended in a shooting Sunday night, prompting a major response from law enforcement, according to Chattooga County Sheriff Mark A. Schrader.
Deputies were dispatched around 9:30 p.m. to a residence on Highway 337 north of Chelsea in reference to a domestic situation that escalated into gunfire. When deputies arrived on scene, they located a male who had sustained a gunshot wound during the incident. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. His condition has not yet been released.
Sheriff Schrader stated that the alleged shooter remained at the residence and was cooperative with deputies and investigators as they processed the scene. No arrests or charges have been announced at this time.
Details surrounding what led up to the shooting have not been released, and authorities say the investigation remains active and ongoing. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
Residents in the area reported a heavy law enforcement presence along Highway 337 as deputies worked into the night.
