CENTRE, Ala. — The City of Centre Fire Department has announced it is now accepting applications for volunteer firefighters — offering residents a rewarding opportunity to serve, protect, and make a lasting difference in their community.

Volunteer firefighters play a vital role in keeping Centre and the surrounding areas safe, responding to emergencies, and standing ready when their neighbors need them most.

Applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Hold a current Alabama driver’s license

  • Reside within 12 miles of the Centre Fire Station

  • Successfully pass a background check

Applications are available now and must be submitted in person at Centre City Hall, located at 635 Armory Road, Centre, Alabama, no later than November 21, 2025.

“Being a volunteer firefighter is one of the most important ways to serve, protect, and give back to your community,” the department emphasized.

For more information, contact Centre City Hall during regular business hours.

The City of Centre is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
