Cherokee County Commission Approves $25.9 Million Budget, Honors Spring Garden School

CENTRE, Ala. — Cherokee County leaders are looking ahead with a newly approved $25,971,328 budget for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2025, and ending September 30, 2026. The budget was adopted Monday afternoon during the regular meeting of the Cherokee County Commission.
Commission Chairman Tim Burgess expressed appreciation to County Administrator Daniel Steele and his staff for their work in preparing the budget, noting that the process takes nearly three months to complete.
Spring Garden School Honored During Pledge of Allegiance

The Commission recognized Spring Garden School and the Spring Garden Community during the Pledge of Allegiance portion of the meeting. Each session, the Pledge is dedicated to an individual or organization. On Monday, Principal Brian Clowdis and Assistant Principal Kyle Garmon attended in honor of their school and community.
Contracts and Renewals Approved
The Commission approved several contracts and renewals, including:
A $12,000 annual contract with Onsolve, LLC for the Code Red Emergency Alert Service provided by the Cherokee County EMA.
A renewal amendment to the Procurement Contract for Services to Aging Customers with the East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission for the upcoming fiscal year.
Executive Session
Commissioners voted to enter into Executive Session to discuss matters related to commerce or trade. No action was expected to follow the closed discussion.
Next Meeting
The next Cherokee County Commission Meeting will be held on October 13 at 10 a.m. in the Commission Chambers.
