CENTRE, Ala. — The Cherokee County Board of Education is set to mark a milestone this week as it holds its first meeting in its new Central Office.
Superintendent Mike Welsh announced that as of September 2, the Board officially relocated its operations to 200 Armory Road in Centre, a move aimed at providing expanded space and improved accessibility for staff, students, and the public.
The inaugural meeting at the new facility will take place on Monday, September 8, at 4 p.m. The session is open to the public, and community members are encouraged to attend.
Among the key items on the agenda are a public hearing on the proposed FY26 budget, the review of the 2025 Student Incident Report, and several service agreements, including counseling, behavioral support, and sign language interpreting. The Board will also consider renewals of its liability and automobile insurance coverage, personnel actions, and professional development opportunities for staff.
The meeting will conclude with a Superintendent’s Update, followed by announcements regarding upcoming sessions. The next Board of Education meeting, which will also serve as the second budget hearing, is scheduled for Thursday, September 11, at 4 p.m. at the Central Office.
