RAINBOW CITY, Ala. — Authorities have announced arrests in connection with a shots-fired incident that occurred Sunday night on Friendship Road in Rainbow City.
According to the Rainbow City Police Department, officers were dispatched around 8 p.m. on January 26 after receiving reports of gunfire coming from the roadway. Upon arrival, officers began an investigation with assistance from the department’s detective division.
Investigators determined that several individuals were gathered outside a residence around a bonfire when a vehicle drove past the location multiple times. Police say the vehicle later stopped in the roadway, and shots were fired in the direction of the group.
During the investigation, officers identified that one of the occupants of the vehicle was the ex-boyfriend of one of the victims, authorities said.
The vehicle involved was located later that evening, and a juvenile suspect was taken into custody. A second suspect, 19-year-old Chase Anthony Paul of Hokes Bluff, was arrested at a separate location.

Paul has been charged with five counts of Assault and one count of Assault Family-Other with a Weapon. His bond has been set at $100,000. The juvenile suspect has also been charged; however, no additional information is being released due to the individual’s age.
Rainbow City police credited the Southside Police Department and the Etowah County District Attorney’s Office for their assistance during the investigation.
Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
