CENTRE, Ala. — In a pivotal move for the community, the Centre City Council adopted a new $6,005,291.36 budget during its Tuesday afternoon meeting, setting the financial course for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2025, and running through September 30, 2026.

Mayor and council members emphasized that the budget reflects the city’s commitment to balancing essential services with community growth initiatives.

City Clean-Up Week Set for October 20–24

Alongside the budget approval, the council issued a proclamation declaring City Clean-Up Week, scheduled for October 20–24.

During this week, residents will be able to place non-household trash curbside on their regular pickup day, with a second truck dispatched to collect the extra waste. Councilor Kay Davis encouraged all citizens to participate, noting that free trash bags will be available at City Hall.

“This is an opportunity for the entire community to come together and take pride in keeping Centre clean and beautiful,” Davis said.

Fall Festival Returns October 4

The council also spotlighted the city’s upcoming Fall Festival, set for Saturday, October 4. The annual tradition promises a full day of family fun with:

  • A community parade

  • Numerous craft and food vendors

  • Inflatables and activities for children

  • Live music and entertainment

Organizers expect strong attendance as residents and visitors alike celebrate the season in the heart of Centre.

Next Council Meeting

The next City Council meeting will be held on October 14 at 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Citizens are encouraged to attend and stay engaged with the city’s decisions and events.
