Two-Vehicle Accident on County Road 273 Near Blue Pond Gap Claims One Life

LEESBURG, Ala. — A tragic two-vehicle accident has claimed one life and left two others injured on Wednesday morning along County Road 273 near Blue Pond Gap/County Road 48, according to reports.


Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene around 7:15 a.m. following reports of a serious collision in the area. Initial calls also indicated that one of the vehicles involved was on fire, prompting a rapid response by first responders.


Upon arrival, crews confirmed that the accident involved two vehicles and resulted in at least one fatality.


Two additional individuals sustained injuries in the accident, and they were transported to nearby medical facilities. Their conditions have not yet been officially released.


Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin.


The roadway in the area remains shut down at this time, with Alabama State Troopers on scene, along with Deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, personnel with Leesburg Fire Department, Sand Rock Fire Department, Cherokee County Coroner's Office, and Atrium-Floyd EMS.


First responders worked to extinguish the vehicle fire, secure the scene, and begin gathering details about what led to the crash.


At this time, the cause of the accident remains under investigation by ALEA.


Motorists are strongly advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes as emergency personnel continue their work.
