The Jacksonville Police Department confirmed that both arrests are connected to the death of Patrick Slade Boothe, 51. Boothe was last seen on January 23 after leaving the Parker Place Southwest area of Jacksonville, police said.

Earlier this week, Jacksonville Police Chief Marcus Wood announced that Boothe had been located deceased. Authorities have not released details regarding the cause of death.

Officials say the investigation remains active, and due to the nature of the case, additional information is not being made public at this time.

In a statement issued February 4, Chief Wood asked the community to keep Boothe’s family in their thoughts.

“We ask for prayers and privacy for the family during this difficult time,” Wood said, noting that law enforcement had been in contact with relatives.

Authorities also confirmed that multiple agencies assisted in the investigation, including the Oxford Police Department, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Talladega County Sheriff’s Office, Pell City Police Department, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, among others.

No further information has been released regarding the circumstances surrounding Boothe’s death. Additional details are expected as the investigation continues.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
