Two Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies Shot; ‘Massive’ Manhunt Underway

BIBB COUNTY, AL - Authorities are investigating after two Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies were shot on Wednesday.


Bibb County District Attorney Michael Jackson said the deputies were chasing a suspect in a stolen vehicle when they were shot. D.A. Jackson said both deputies are alive, but one was “critically shot.” D.A. Jackson said the one with serious injuries was shot in the body.


D.A. Jackson confirms that a manhunt is underway for the suspect in this shooting, identified as 26-year-old Austin Patrick Hall. Officials with Centreville Police Department are asking people to stay in their homes as authorities continue to search for suspects.

Austin Patrick Hall, a convicted felon who has been arrested on 46 criminal charges since he was 17 years old.


Police caution that he may be armed and should not be approached. A Blue Alert was issued just before 7:30 p.m. describing Hall as a serious threat to the public. Anyone with information is asked to call 205-926-3129 or 911.
