JENSEN BEACH, Fla. (WKRC) — A Florida teenager was arrested on a domestic battery charge following a heated family dispute that allegedly escalated into an unusual physical altercation involving a pork chop, according to authorities.
The incident occurred on January 22, when deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in reference to a reported verbal dispute between a teenage girl and her mother.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the argument intensified when 18-year-old Farrah Kernan allegedly threw a pork chop at her mother. Moments later, Kernan reportedly struck her mother across the face with her right hand. The alleged slap was captured on video recorded by a friend of the mother, investigators said.
The responding deputy noted observing food residue on the mother’s left shoulder, which authorities said was consistent with her account of the incident. Court documents also indicate Kernan had consumed alcohol earlier in the day.
When questioned by law enforcement, Kernan allegedly appeared confused and provided statements that were inconsistent with the evidence and unrelated to the alleged battery. Deputies reported that she became increasingly uncooperative, eventually screaming and crying at the scene.
Kernan was taken into custody and charged with domestic battery.
