Shooting Investigation Leads to Four Arrests and Major Drug Seizure at a Leesburg Residence

LEESBURG, Ala. - Four people are facing multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a controlled substance and trafficking of a controlled substance, as part of an investigation into a shooting earlier this week at a Leesburg residence.
Leesburg Police officers were dispatched to the home on Lakefront Drive in Leesburg following reports of a shooting in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 22.
At approximately 5:00 a.m., the Leesburg Police Department was dispatched to the home on Lakefront Drive following reports of a possible shooting. While en route, officers were then dispatched to a separate call reporting that a male claiming he had been shot at the Lakefront Drive residence was at the Coosa Corner gas station.
Law enforcement officers with the Leesburg Police Department, along with law enforcement personnel with the Centre Police Department, and Deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, responded to Coosa Corner to take statements from the male victim and those involved. After statements were completed at Coosa Corner, officers went to Lakefront Drive and conducted an investigation.
The male had been shot in the arm and transported to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and later released for a non-life-threatening injury.
On Friday, July 25, a search warrant for the residence on Lakefront Drive was obtained and executed by officers with the Leesburg Police Department and investigators with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
The search revealed four individuals occupying the home: Carrie Adams, 25, of Southside, David Martin, 45, of Leesburg, Renee Neil, 40, of Centre, and John Martin, 48, of Leesburg.
During the search, law enforcement seized a large quantity of illegal narcotics as well as a firearm that is believed to have been used in the shooting.
Leesburg Police expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and Centre Police Department in handling the incident.
The case remains under investigation and will be presented to a grand jury at a later date.
The Leesburg Police Department released the following statement via their Facebook page on Saturday, July 26, 2025:
On 7/22/25 at approximately 5:00 AM Leesburg Police Department was dispatched to a residence on Lakefront Drive in regards to a shooting. While en route, the officer was notified that a separate call had come in about a male subject at Coosa Corner who had been shot on Lakefront Drive.
A Leesburg Officer, Centre Police Department Officers, and Deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office responded to Coosa Corner to take statements from those who were involved. The subject that had been shot was transported to a nearby hospital and treated for a non-life-threatening injury. After statements were completed, officers went to Lakefront Drive and conducted an investigation. A signed search warrant was later obtained and executed on 7/25/25 by the Leesburg Police Department and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Investigators.
Upon execution of the search warrant, it was found that the four individuals occupied the home. A search of the house was conducted and resulted in a large quantity of illegal narcotics that were seized, and the suspected gun that was involved in the above-mentioned shooting.
The shooting incident will be presented to a grand jury on a later date. All subjects involved are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
