Alabama — After several unseasonably warm days with highs reaching near or above 70 degrees across much of Alabama, residents should prepare for a sharp change in the weather beginning tonight as a strong cold front moves through the state.

Light rain is expected tonight into early tomorrow morning, with most locations receiving a quarter inch or less. Behind the front, markedly colder air will settle in, bringing a noticeable temperature drop.
On Monday, temperatures are forecast to hover in the 30s and 40s across North Alabama throughout the day, accompanied by a brisk north wind that will make conditions feel even colder. South Alabama is expected to fall into the 40s by mid to late afternoon.
The coldest weather of the week will occur on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. A widespread freeze is likely across most of the state, with morning lows dipping into the 20s. Residents are encouraged to protect sensitive plants, check on elderly neighbors, and bring outdoor pets inside during the freezing conditions.
The weather pattern will remain dry through Thursday, with a gradual warming trend expected late week. Forecast models currently indicate rain chances returning by Friday and Saturday.
Officials remind the public to monitor local forecasts and stay weather-aware as Alabama transitions from springlike warmth back to winter conditions.
