Severe Storms Possible for Today


Isolated severe storms will be possible today in the areas in dark green.


 

More severe storms will be possible this afternoon.


The strongest storms could bring wind gusts strong enough to knock down trees and power lines, according to the National Weather Service. Hail, lightning and heavy rain will also be possible.


Storms will be most likely starting this afternoon and could last into tonight.


NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has northeast Alabama in Level 2 out of 5 (or slight) risk for severe weather today.


A Level 2 risk means scattered severe storms will be possible.


Storms could develop and intensify quickly today in the summer heat, forecasters said.


The Storm Prediction Center has part of the region in another Level 1 severe weather risk for Saturday:



Level 1 (or marginal) risk, which means isolated severe storms will be possible.
