GADSDEN - Due to the ongoing construction of new train tracks, Noccalula Falls Park will close some areas for nearly two weeks. The park will be closed Monday, Sept. 26, and re-open Saturday, Oct. 8, for the Trick or Treat village from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. which will take place without the trains according to reports from the City of Gadsden.
"The City of Gadsden has invested more than $1 million for two new, electric trains, which travel on a one-mile ride throughout the park," the release stated.
The temporary closure will affect the paid portion of the park, but some areas will remain open to the public. The Black Creek Trails, the overlook to view Noccalula Falls, the playground area, the campground, and the rental pavilions will remain open.
The mini golf course will remain open every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through the end of October.
The new trains are expected to be on track and running for the opening night of Christmas at the Falls on Nov. 24.
