Narcotics Investigation Leads to Arrests in Sand Rock

SAND ROCK, Ala. — An ongoing narcotics investigation led to the execution of a search warrant Monday morning, March 2, at a residence on County Road 50 in the Sand Rock community, resulting in two arrests.
Deputies and investigators with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, along with officers from the Leesburg Police Department, carried out the search as part of the continuing investigation.
According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, law enforcement officials discovered methamphetamine and other illegal drugs, along with several items of drug paraphernalia, inside the home during the search.
As a result of the investigation, two individuals were taken into custody and charged in connection with the case.
Jonathan Robert Buford, 56, of Leesburg, was charged with:
Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute
Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, 2nd Degree
Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Tracy Chatham Mallard, 56, of Leesburg, was charged with:
Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance
Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Both individuals were transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center following their arrest.
Sheriff Jeff Shaver expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by the Leesburg Police Department during the joint operation.
Authorities indicate that the investigation remains ongoing.
