ROME, Ga. — Community members and local officials form Rome gathered Wednesday, February 18, to celebrate the official groundbreaking of a new pump track at Ridge Ferry Park, marking the beginning of an exciting recreational addition for residents of all ages.

Construction is now underway, and early progress is already visible as the track begins to take shape. Project organizers note that, pending favorable weather conditions, the pump track is expected to be completed within approximately one month.

The new attraction will be conveniently located next to the sand volleyball court near the park’s main parking lot, offering easy access for visitors.

“We were thrilled to host the groundbreaking for the new pump track,” organizers shared. “It was wonderful to see members of the community come together to celebrate this important milestone.”

What Is a Pump Track?

A pump track is a specially designed looping trail featuring a series of rollers, berms, and banked turns that allow riders to maintain momentum through a rhythmic “pumping” motion rather than pedaling.

Designed for bikes, scooters, skateboards, and similar recreational equipment, pump tracks are known for being accessible, engaging, and enjoyable for a wide range of ages and skill levels.

Because the track relies on rider movement and balance rather than speed or power, it provides a fun, active experience suitable for beginners and experienced riders alike.

Expanding Community Recreation

The addition of the pump track represents a continued investment in outdoor recreation and community wellness. Once completed, the track is expected to provide a dynamic activity space encouraging physical activity, skill development, and family-friendly entertainment.

Officials expressed appreciation for those who attended the ceremony and supported the project.

“A big thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this milestone,” organizers stated.

As construction progresses, residents can expect to see continued development in the coming weeks as Ridge Ferry Park prepares to unveil its newest recreational feature.
