FORT PAYNE, Ala. — Fort Payne City Schools were placed on lockdown Monday morning following a reported safety threat, prompting an immediate response from local law enforcement and emergency personnel.

According to a statement released by Fort Payne City Schools, the district was placed on lockdown at approximately 10:45 a.m. after officials received a report of a potential safety threat.

Local law enforcement responded immediately, while school administrators and emergency personnel implemented standard safety protocols to secure campuses throughout the district.
