City of Collinsville Appoints Stephen Malone as New Police Chief

COLLINSVILLE, Ala. - In a unanimous decision on September 15, 2025, the Town of Collinsville announced the appointment of Chief Stephen Malone as its newest Police Chief.

Chief Malone brings extensive experience to the role, having served as the Chief of Police for the Town of Ider for the past three years. His leadership in Ider was marked by a commitment to public safety, community engagement, and fostering strong relationships between law enforcement and residents.

Upon his appointment, Chief Malone shared his gratitude and excitement for returning to Collinsville:

“I feel truly blessed with the opportunity to return home, where so much of my family lives and where our roots run deep. Having worked for the Town of Collinsville years ago and enjoying every moment of that time, being allowed to return now as Chief is one of the greatest blessings of my career. I firmly believe the Lord directs our steps and places us exactly where we are meant to be, and I see this opportunity as part of His perfect plan for my life. Spiritually, financially, and in every other way, this was the best decision for my family and me. Scripture reminds us that ‘to whom much is given, much will be required’ (Luke 12:48), and I do not take lightly the responsibility and trust that come with this role. I am deeply grateful to the Mayor, Town Council, and the community for entrusting me with this responsibility. My goal each day is to lead with humility, wisdom, and strength, and for my service to reflect integrity, compassion, and fairness. This is more than a position to me, it is a purpose, and it is home. I look forward to dedicating the remainder of my career to the Town of Collinsville until retirement, doing my very best to protect, serve, and uplift this community, just as the late, great Chief Gary Bowen faithfully did throughout his career. At the same time, I would be remiss if I did not express my heartfelt appreciation for my Ider community. Leaving has been one of the hardest decisions of my life. I will always carry with me the relationships, experiences, and memories I was blessed with during my time there. The people of Ider supported me in ways I will never forget, and I will continue to pray for their safety and success. In all things, I give thanks to the Lord for His guidance and for the chance to serve. I pray that my work here in Collinsville will honor Him, bless this community, and leave a lasting impact long after my time in uniform is done.”

Town officials have expressed confidence in Chief Malone’s leadership and experience, noting that his appointment strengthens the department’s mission to maintain public safety while fostering trust and engagement with the community.
