Cherokee County Youth Football League Opens Registration for 2026 Season

CENTRE, Ala. — Registration is now open for the Cherokee County Youth Football League’s 2026 football and cheerleading season, offering young athletes across the county the opportunity to participate in the upcoming fall season.
Registration will run from March 9 through May 31, 2026, and is open to children based on their age as of July 31, 2026. Participants may not be entering the 7th grade. League officials note that players may move up divisions if necessary but cannot move back down in future seasons.

A New Chapter for the League
Organizers recently announced that the Cherokee County Youth Football League will now operate under the Centre Parks & Recreation Department, marking a significant step forward for the program.
“This is a huge step for our program,” an organizer shared on social media. “Our board members will work closely together with the city to bring more opportunities to the children in our community.”
Football Divisions
• Freshmen: Ages 5–6
• Sophomore: Ages 7–8
• Junior: Ages 9–10
• Senior: Ages 11–12
Cheerleading Divisions
• Sophomore: Ages 5–8
• Junior: Ages 9–10
• Senior: Ages 11–12
The football registration fee is $100, which includes a jersey and pants. The cheerleading registration fee is $225, which includes a bow-to-toe cheer package.
Fundraising Opportunity for Families
League organizers also shared that parents or guardians who need help covering registration fees for the 2026 season can participate in fundraising boards designed to help raise funds for their child’s participation.
By filling the fundraising boards, families can work toward covering costs for both football players and cheerleaders.
Parents and guardians can register by scanning the QR code on the official league flyer before the May 31 registration deadline.

The Cherokee County Youth Football League aims to provide youth with opportunities to develop teamwork, discipline, leadership, and sportsmanship, while building strong community connections through athletics.
