15-Year-Old Killed in ATV, Truck Collision in Etowah County

SARDIS CITY, Ala. - A 15-year-old was killed Saturday afternoon in a head-on collision between an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and a pickup truck, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).


The accident occurred at approximately 3:24 p.m. on Cox Gap Road near Walter Whitt Road, about three miles southeast of Sardis City in Etowah County.


Authorities said the 15-year-old was driving an ATV when it collided head-on with a truck operated by a 16-year-old. The ATV driver was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.


ALEA officials have not released the identity of the victim or the condition of the 16-year-old involved.


Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the accident.
