SAND ROCK, Ala. — Excitement is building in the Sand Rock community as organizers prepare to launch the town’s first-ever Youth Football Program, giving young athletes the opportunity to compete, build teamwork skills, and be part of a brand-new tradition for local youth sports.
Registration for the inaugural season of Sand Rock Youth Football will begin Saturday, March 14 at 12:00 p.m., with a second sign-up opportunity scheduled for March 21 at 12:00 p.m. Organizers have also announced that an additional registration date will be held in April, though that date has yet to be finalized.
All registration events will take place at Sand Rock Town Hall.

The new program will feature three age divisions:
Ages 5–7
Ages 8–9
Ages 10–12
Organizers say the league is designed to provide a positive athletic experience for young players while strengthening community involvement through youth sports.
Importantly, the program is not limited to children living in Sand Rock. Registration is open countywide, meaning families from across Cherokee County and surrounding communities are welcome to participate.
“We want everyone to feel welcome to come be part of this first season,” organizers Josh Miller shared. “Our goal is to build something special for the kids and the entire community.”
Registration Details
The registration fee is $200 per player, which will help cover several key program expenses including:
Player jerseys
Referee costs
Insurance coverage
Concession startup costs
Parents are asked to bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate when registering.
Organizers also clarified that football helmets and shoulder pads will be provided for players, while parents will need to purchase football pants, socks, and cleats.
Because this is the program’s inaugural season, officials encourage families to sign up early as team spots are expected to fill quickly once teams begin forming.
Building a New Community Tradition
Community leaders say the goal of Sand Rock Youth Football is not only to introduce a new athletic opportunity for local youth but also to create a program centered around teamwork, discipline, and community pride.
Residents are encouraged to share the registration dates and help spread the word so that more children across Cherokee County have the opportunity to participate in the program’s historic first season.
“All players are welcome,” organizer Josh Miller noted. “Help us build something special for our kids and our community.”
