Police say confrontation at a home under construction escalated into exchange of gunfire

ALBERTVILLE, Ala. — New details have been released by the Albertville Police Department regarding a deadly shooting early Sunday morning that left two men dead and a third wounded at a home under construction.

According to police, officers responded at approximately 1:15 a.m. Sunday to a reported shooting at a building in the 1400 block of Oneonta Cut-Off Road in Albertville.

When officers arrived, they found two men dead from apparent gunshot wounds and a third man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The two men who died were previously identified as Hunter Lawrence Moore, 27, of Albertville, and Starsky Dewayne Davis, 50, of Albertville.

Investigators now say the property owner, Starsky Levi Davis, 25, of Albertville, and his father, Starsky Dewayne Davis, confronted Moore after they reportedly believed he was a prowler on the property.

Police said an altercation followed between the two property owners and Moore. According to investigators, the confrontation escalated and gunfire was exchanged between the property owners and Moore.

Starsky Levi Davis sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the incident.

Police said the first Albertville officer to arrive at the scene immediately began providing medical assistance and applied a tourniquet to Davis.

Albertville Fire & Rescue personnel later arrived and continued treatment.

Davis was transported by helicopter to Huntsville Hospital, where he underwent surgery. According to Albertville Police, he is expected to survive his injuries.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation by the Albertville Police Department Detective Division.

Police said additional information will be released as it becomes available and when appropriate during the ongoing investigation.
