
Update on the single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 1:25 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, which caused lane closure, according to a statement issued by Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency in Decatur
The southbound lanes of I-59 near the 205-mile marker, in Etowah County near Collinsville, AL were blocked for several hours, per Troopers Bailey traffic has resumed.
According to reports from the Southern Torch, the accident on I-59, that happened at approximately 1:25 am, Wednesday morning involved an 18-wheeler accident at was hauling a jet engine.
All lanes of traffic were re-opened just prior to 11:00 am after the emergency crews finished cleaning up a fuel spill that resulted from the wreck.
Collinsville Police Chief Andy Brown said the 18-wheeler was traveling southbound – and following the wreck, traffic had to be detoured to Alabama Highway 68 by ALDOT for the next several hours as EMA officials and a variety of other agencies responded to the scene.
No word yet on whether or not anyone was injured and what led to that accident occurring.
