Two Shot During ‘Incident’ in Powell Friday Afternoon

POWELL, Ala. – According to DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, Chief Investigator Nick Brown, two employees of Haymon Homes were shot after an argument at a home for caregivers of Haymon Homes. The argument spilled onto the road with one victim in a car being shot and the other victim being shot in the yard.


According to a Facebook post by DCSO on Friday, sheriff’s deputies and officers with the Powell Police Department, Powell Police Department, Rainsville Police Department along with JSU Center for Applied Forensics are aiding with the ongoing investigation of the shooting that took place in the area of College Road in Powell, near Northeast Community College.


Powell Police Department Chief Gage Wilson confirmed that they responded to a shooting call on College Road.


According to DCSO Investigator Brown, one gunshot victim was transported to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, but the other took off in a car.


Chief Wilson with Powell Police Department said authorities believe this was an isolated incident and don’t believe the public is in danger.


Police are still searching for two suspects in a white Chevrolet Impala, according to DCSO.
