Registration Open for September Boating Basics Course

CENTRE, Ala. – The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) Marine Patrol Division, in partnership with the Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), will host a Boating Basics Course on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The course will be held at the Cherokee County EMA Office, located inside the Cherokee County Administration Building at 260 Cedar Bluff Road in Centre. Registration is now open, and interested participants can sign up through the form provided here.
This free course is designed for individuals ages 12 and up. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older. Children under 12 are not eligible to take the boating exam. Those who simply need a refresher course are welcome to attend as well.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a notepad and something to write with, along with a driver’s license or, if unavailable, their Social Security number.
This educational course aims to promote safe boating practices and is proudly presented by ALEA and hosted by Cherokee County EMA. Don’t miss this opportunity to enhance your boating knowledge and safety skills.
