Man Stabbed, Robbed Just North of Gadsden City Limits, Etowah County Sheriff's Office Investigates

Updated: Jun 22, 2022

GADSDEN - Investigators from the Etowah County Sheriff's Office were on the scene of a reported assault and robbery Wednesday morning that sent one person to a Birmingham hospital, according to Sheriff Jonathon Horton.

The incident occurred off U.S. Highway 411 just north of the Gadsden city limits, where a camper is located off the roadway. Horton said one person is in custody in connection with the incident.

Deputies responded after a report of a man in the roadway covered in blood, ECSO Capt. Josh Morgan said. Based on information from the victim and witnesses at the scene, investigators developed a person of interest and were able to find and take that person into custody.

The victim, who suffered cuts and stab wounds, was taken to UAB hospital by Survival Flight, and sheriff's investigators are actively processing two different scenes — one on U.S. 411 and another on Roslyn Drive.

The person in custody has not been named because charges have not been brought; investigators were in the process of notifying the assault victim's family.

Gadsden police and fire departments assisted at the scene and an A-Med ambulance responded.

Will update with more details as they become available.
