TALLADEGA, Ala. — Governor Kay Ivey has removed all members of the Motorsports Hall of Fame Commission after a state audit uncovered extensive governance violations and alleged financial misconduct exceeding $200,000 by a former employee.
“Governor Ivey is responsible for ensuring all state entities operate effectively and with transparency,” Communications Director Gina Maiola told TWLN. “After reviewing the audit of the International Motorsports Hall of Fame, the governor decided to remove all commission members and appoint new leadership. She takes accountability seriously and feels this action was necessary.”
According to IMHOF Executive Director Adam Stocks, the part-time employee accused of theft was immediately terminated once discrepancies surfaced during the audit.
The report detailed multiple unauthorized expenditures, including more than $5,000 in personal power bill payments, over $74,000 issued to creditors unrelated to the commission, and more than $22,000 withdrawn through checks written for cash.
The governor’s office has released a full list of newly appointed commission members tasked with restoring proper governance and ensuring the organization’s mission continues to be carried out effectively.
TWLN will continue to monitor developments in this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
