Glencoe Traffic Stop Turned Drug Bust Lands One in Jail

Etowah County, Alabama- One individual has been arrested with drug charges in Etowah County, according to Sheriff Jonathan Horton.

Derence Ramon Hughley, age 27 of Gadsden, Alabama is charged with Drug Trafficking (Opium), and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine and Cocaine).

On July 3, 2022, Officers Roberts, and Anderson, with the Glencoe Police Department, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an expired tag. During the course of the traffic stop, Officers conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle. The Officers located a trafficking amount of opiate-based pills, as well as an amount of Methamphetamine, and Cocaine.

The evidence was turned over to the Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit for further investigation.

Hughley was arrested and is being held in the Etowah County Jail on a $260,000.00 property bond.
