Discount Lumber in Centre Catches Fire Friday Morning; Multiple Agencies from Around Cherokee County Respond To The Fire

CENTRE, Ala. - Discount Lumber between Centre and Cedar Bluff caught fire this morning, causing firefighters from multiple departments to rush into action.


Per reports from WEIS Radio, the fire may have started as a propane or a fuel tank fire resulting in the fire spreading to a structure.


Cherokee County 911 received the first call around 7:20 a.m. reporting the fire. Centre and Cedar Bluff Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene located at 3025 Cedar Bluff Road and found the business fully involved and requested additional manpower to assist in the fire.


Spring Creek and Leesburg Fire Departments responded to the call for additional manpower along with other emergency personnel and are scene actively working the fire.


The Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency is asking people to avoid the area. Centre PD has shut down Cedar Bluff Road and is asking drivers to detour using County Road 65 or 69 to Blackwell Crossroads.
