CW Matthews Van Downs Power Pole on East Main Street

CENTRE- Around 6:40 am Friday morning a CW Matthews Contracting Co. van crashed into a power pole and parked vehicles on East Main Street in Centre.

The van took down the pole, sending live wires across the roadway. No one was hurt during the incident.

The accident was at the intersection of West Main and McElrath Street – next to the TDS building in Centre, down from the Centre Fire Hall. Centre Police and Centre Fire Department responded immediately and Cherokee Electric was dispatched out.

Police and fire personnel diverted traffic while Cherokee Electric crews work to make repairs. Please avoid the area until repair work has been finished.

The accident accident remains under investigation by the Centre Police Department.
