Cherokee County Board of Education to Address Finances, Personnel, and District Updates at January Meeting Set for Monday January 12

CENTRE, Ala. — The Cherokee County Board of Education will hold its regularly scheduled school board meeting on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at the Cherokee County Schools Central Office, located at 200 Armory Road in Centre.
The meeting will open with a call to order, followed by an opening prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Board members will then welcome attendees and allow time for public comments, providing an opportunity for community members to address the board.
During the meeting, board members are expected to conduct routine business, including establishing a quorum, confirming proper public notification of the meeting, and formally adopting the agenda.
The board will consider approval of minutes from the Dec. 8, 2025 and Dec. 15, 2025 meetings, as well as receive the October 2025 financial report, offering insight into the district’s fiscal standing.
Additional agenda items include consideration of an agreement with the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) Crisis Recovery Network, acceptance of a bid, approval of travel requests, personnel actions, and professional development opportunities. Board members will also review current job postings within the district.
The meeting will conclude with a Superintendent’s Update, providing information on ongoing initiatives, district priorities, and upcoming developments, followed by any additional business and adjournment.
Regular school board meetings are open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend to stay informed on decisions impacting Cherokee County Schools.
