Centre Celebrates 50 Years of Fall Festival Fun With Huge Community Turnout

CENTRE, Ala. — Downtown Centre was filled with families, vendors, music, entertainment, and plenty of fall fun on Saturday, October 3, as the City of Centre celebrated the 50th Annual Centre Fall Festival.
The milestone celebration brought together residents and visitors for a full day of activities along Main Street and throughout downtown Centre, marking five decades of one of the city’s longstanding community traditions.
Festivities got underway Saturday morning with the Kids Fall Fun Run at 9:30 a.m., giving some of the community’s youngest participants a chance to kick off the celebration.
At 10:30 a.m., the annual Fall Festival Parade made its way through Centre, with WEIS Radio owner Jerry Baker serving as Grand Marshal for the 50th anniversary celebration.
Entertainment continued throughout the day with performances from local groups and entertainers. What a Dance Studio dancers took the stage, while the Cherokee County Warriors Band also performed for festivalgoers.

Visitors were also entertained by David Turner, ventriloquist, and friends, bringing plenty of laughs to the festival, while Big Dan’s Playin Possum Band provided live music as part of the day’s entertainment lineup.

More than 160 vendors, organizations, clubs, businesses, food vendors and other groups lined Main Street and the surrounding downtown Centre area, offering everything from information and community resources to handmade goods, merchandise and food.
The large turnout represented organizations and businesses from across the area, with nonprofit groups, community organizations and local causes also using the festival as an opportunity to meet residents and share information about the services they provide.
Children had no shortage of things to do during the festival. Activities included a petting zoo, inflatables, a bungee trampoline attraction, and Kaylee’s Express trackless train, which offered rides for both children and adults.
Main Street remained busy throughout the day as families made their way from booth to booth, enjoyed food and entertainment, and stopped to take part in the many activities offered throughout downtown Centre.
The Fall Festival also provided an opportunity for local businesses, civic organizations, and community groups to connect face-to-face with the people they serve. Booths along Main Street showcased everything from youth programs and charitable organizations to local businesses and community resources.
Saturday’s celebration was more than simply another fall festival. The 50th anniversary served as a reminder of the generations of families, businesses, volunteers, and community leaders who have helped make the event a Centre tradition.
From the morning fun run and parade to live entertainment, children’s attractions, food and more than 160 participating vendors and organizations, the 50th Annual Centre Fall Festival delivered a full day centered around community and family fun.
