CEDAR BLUFF, Ala. — After months of operating with limited manpower, the Cedar Bluff Police Department is taking strong steps toward rebuilding its force. What had been a one-man department led solely by Chief Jeremy Stepps will soon grow, as four new officers are set to come on duty in the coming weeks.
Chief Stepps confirmed in an interview that the hiring process is nearly complete. He expects all four officers to be fully sworn in and patrolling Cedar Bluff within two weeks, a move that he says will greatly enhance public safety and restore the department’s ability to meet the needs of the community.
The shortage occurred after several officers either resigned or transferred to other agencies, leaving Stepps as the only full-time officer on staff. Despite the challenge, the chief has remained committed to serving the community while working to recruit and rebuild.
“These new hires will allow us to provide consistent coverage, quicker response times, and a stronger presence in the community,” Stepps said. “It’s a big step forward for the department and for Cedar Bluff.”
The department’s return to normal staffing levels is expected to bring both reassurance and relief to residents who have long relied on their local officers for safety and security. As the new officers settle in, many hope this marks the beginning of a stronger, more stable future for the Cedar Bluff Police Department.
The Weekly Ledger News will continue to provide updates as the officers take their oaths and begin their service to the community.
