PIEDMONT, Ala. - On December 31, 2022, at approximately 11:11 pm CT the Piedmont Police Department, Fire Department, and EMS responded to a call on the 4000 block of Old Piedmont Gadsden Hwy in reference to a shooting and that someone had been shot.
When the first responders arrived on the scene, they observed a white male juvenile, age 13 of Piedmont, had been fatally shot. During the investigation, it was learned that there was a physical altercation that took place, and ultimately a gun was discharged, and the juvenile victim was fatally shot.
Through the investigation, a suspect was identified as Paul Joshua "PJ" Baker, age 19 of Piedmont. The suspect was later found in Cherokee County and was charged with Murder.
Baker was transported to a County Jail where the bond was set as NO BOND by Calhoun County District Court.
This case is still under investigation. And due to the age of the victim, the name is being withheld at this time.
