Body of Missing Floyd County Man was Found in Polk County

CEDARTOWN, Ga. - The Georgia State Patrol confirmed with The Weekly Ledger that a Floyd County man, 28-year-old Sharad Robinson, who had been missing since Sunday, December 18 was found dead on the side of Highway 27 North in Polk County near Cedartown, Ga. on the afternoon of Monday, December 19.

GSP’s Special Collision Reconstruction Team was called in to investigate the death of Robinson, who is believed to have died on Sunday, December 18 – the same day he was reported missing.


Officials noted that his remains were discovered along Highway 27 in an area that wouldn’t have been visible to drivers under ordinary conditions.


According to the GSP report, “After investigating the scene, it was determined that a pedestrian, Sharad Robinson, age 28, was walking southbound on the east shoulder of Georgia 1 towards Cedartown, and an unknown vehicle, traveling northbound, traveled off the east shoulder of Georgia 1 struck Robinson. After the impact, the vehicle continued northbound, fleeing the scene.”


Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to immediately call the Polk County Police Department at 770-748-7331, Floyd County Police at 706-235-7766, or the GSP at 404-624-7700.


Robinson’s next of kin was notified and they identified the remains with the Polk County coroner.
