7-Year-Old Rome Child Airlifted After Being Struck by Pickup While Trying to Catch School Bus

ROME, Ga. — A 7-year-old Rome child was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite Friday morning after being struck by a large pickup truck on Chateau Drive.
According to initial reports, the child was attempting to catch a school bus when he ran into the roadway and was struck by the truck.
Authorities said the child suffered serious injuries, including head injuries, multiple broken bones, a broken clavicle, broken ribs and a broken pelvis.
The child was transported by air ambulance to Scottish Rite Hospital for additional treatment. Authorities reported that the child was listed in stable but critical condition.
Police said no charges are pending at this time. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
The Rome Police Department is asking anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have information regarding the wreck to contact the department.
