18-Wheeler Overturns on U.S. 411 North in Moshat Community

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ala. — An overturned 18-wheeler shut down U.S. 411 North early Monday morning in the Moshat community north of Centre as emergency personnel and recovery crews responded to the scene.

The crash occurred shortly after 5 a.m. Monday, August 31, near Cherokee County Roads 83 and 158.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the single-vehicle crash was reported at approximately 5:02 a.m. It closed all northbound U.S. 411 lanes in the Mosat community for an undetermined amount of time.

The Spring Creek Fire Department, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Alabama State Troopers, and Atrium Floyd EMS responded to the crash.

Crews with Fagan’s Towing Service were also dispatched later Monday morning to recover the overturned tractor-trailer.

Emergency radio traffic monitored by The Weekly Ledger News indicated that Floyd EMS was dispatched to the scene following an initial report of possible injuries. However, as of publication time, The Weekly Ledger News had not independently confirmed whether anyone was injured or transported for medical treatment.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and use an alternate route while recovery operations continue.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation as of Monday morning.
